FRESNO REGIONAL SPORTS COMPLEX

Has anyone played there before? I've been trying to find information about the Fresno Regional Sports Complex but there's not a lot out there. I found a tournament site with some photos I could poach. The City of Fresno's website says they charge $5.00 per vehicle to enter the sports complex which has eight parking lots. Another site says they have a clubhouse, concession stand, batting cage, soft-toss net and shaded spectator seating.

Spacious, covered dugouts
I can confirm from the photos that they have six diamonds with night lighting. At least a few of them have large covered dugouts. I see uncovered bleachers behind the backstops. There are some spots with bleachers adjacent to trees which provide them with shade. There are some trees in open spaces where one could park a lawn chair and sit in the shade. I'm guessing those spots will be in high demand on hot days and the mean high temperature in Fresno during August is 94.8 degrees. (Here in Richmond, it's 71 degrees.)

Trees provide some shade
For our brothers and sisters in the hotter inland areas, playing ball all day in 90-100 degree weather may not be a big deal. For us coastal folks, it can be pretty uncomfortable. If we can't be certain there's a place we can get out of the sun, we'll need to haul some canopies and beach umbrellas out there to make our own shade. I don't think anyone will want to leave the park if they're going to charge us $5.00 each time to get back in.

  1. I learned yesterday that the cluster of diamonds in the center are Fields #1-#4. We're playing on Fields #5 & #6, the two diamonds outside the central cluster. Field #5 is the one next to the lake. Field #6 is the one at the opposite end of the complex.

To reach the parking lot between Fields #5 & #6, we drive on the main road all the way around the complex. Immediately after passing Field #6, turn left. That road leads to the lot between Fields #5 & #6.
